Under the title Tomb Raider [Tuːmˌɹeɪdə] (English: Grabbers), a series of computer games from the genre of the action adventures was created since 1996 around the virtual protagonist Lara Croft. Her creator, designer Toby Gard from the British Developer Studio Core Design, designed them as a kind of female Indiana Jones. The popular main figure and the mixture of action and adventure (skill, fighting, weapons and puzzles) made Tomb Raider to one of the most famous game franchises, with several films and literary companions.
